Definitely not! Our horse co-trainers interact with you as a participant in the activities which are all done on the ground. You will not be riding the horses.
Anyone can participate in our equine guided programs with the guidance of our facilitators. Our primary goal is to provide an environment that is conducive to learning while maintaining the safety of our participants, the horses, and our staff. Also, our horses have a lot of experience with participants and are chosen because of their reliability and nature. Some participants do commence programs with some fear but by the end of the program, this changes into self-confidence and self-assurance - partly through coaching, but particularly through the winning confidence of the horses
No special clothing or equipment is required. Participants should wear long pants (jeans), closed toe shoes, a shirt, and a hat on warmer days. Once registered, you will receive additional information regarding how to dress for the weather in O'Connell NSW
Yes! Our facilitators are business consultants and entrepreneurs. We specialise in creating individual designs that focus on the competencies and skills your team needs to develop. We partner with you to assess your groups' needs and create a program that contributes to your strategic goals.
Yes! Our open programs are designed to develop your individual leadership skills. Since 11th September 2001, people are searching for a more meaningful life and defining what is important to them. Our horses heighten your awareness and allow the important things in life to surface. Leadership & HorsesTM is related to other experiential programs such as abseiling, high ropes courses, or white water rafting; however, we add the element of the horse. The horses bring with them all of their different personalities, attitudes, and moods just like humans. This allows you to recognise how you interact with other living beings in a safe environment and visibly see how changing attitudes and approaches make a difference.
Our preference is to run the full programs here, for a number of reasons. Not only is the Leadership & HorsesTM program powerful and revolutionary as an approach to developing leadership, the impact is accentuated by conducting it at such a special place as Yarrabin. Close enough to Sydney to get to in a couple of hours, yet far enough away to be separated from work and the challenges of daily life. Also, you will experience some significant team building moments of bonding and story telling when you sit down together to big country meals or when sipping wine by the fire. Think of it as a "total escape" rather than a day workshop. However, we have run programs away from Yarrabin, so let us know your request and we will work hard at meeting your requirements. Also, we run demonstration events away from Yarrabin, mainly in Sydney. These are generally about two hours in length, and are designed to give you taste of the equine guided experience. Please contact us if you would like more information on our demonstration events.
We prefer to think of teams as group of people from 8 to 12. We have found this number allows all to gain the most from the programs, and for us to give our all to everyone. We would suggest maybe running 3 to 4 groups through the program, and then bringing the group together for a special team event. We can assist in organising and facilitating this special event - which does not necessarily have to involve horses.
The full Leadership & HorsesTM program is ideal for adults, however we do tailor this popular and powerful program for older school children, and for youth at risk. An ideal focus for the school variation of Leadership & HorsesTM is for the leadership group of high schools - specifically school captains, prefects and SRC members. Work has just commenced for programs for youth-at-risk. If you are interested in these programs, or would like to make a financial contribution, please contact us.
We are located in the central west region of NSW near Bathurst. Driving time from Penrith in Sydney is about 2 hours. There is also an airport at Bathurst - flights take about 40 minutes from Mascot, Sydney. We will meet you for a complimentary transfer to Yarrabin, which takes about 20 minute.
